Food trip at Bacolod

Day 1
Jun 12, 2014
Bacolod

This was one of those trips where we booked our flight because of Cebu Pacific's PISO sale.We did not have any idea what we can actually see or do in Bacolod besides eating chicken Inasal, which we can already do in Manila. There is, of course, the famous Masskara festival but there is no way we can book a PISO sale during that event.

We arrived in Bacolod at 4 in the afternoon and went straight to O hotel, a highly-rated, nice, cozy hotel, which was about 30 minutes away from the airport.  The room rate was around 2,000 PHP for 3 persons and already included a buffet breakfast - not bad at all.

After a quick rest at the hotel, we did the obligatory, albeit brief, tour of a centuries-old church - the 19th century San Sebastian cathedral, which was a few blocks away from the hotel.

Later on, we rode a jeep to get to Manokan Country which is basically a food court where the main (and only?) draw is Chicken Inasal. The chicken tasted good but was no different to the one already available in Manila (Chichen Bacolod) - it was cheaper though, as expected.

We then went to Calea Pastries and Coffee, which is found in Lacson street - one of the major streets in Bacolod where one can find restaurants, cafes and trendier hotels. Calea's white chocolate cheesecake is to die for - it has the right amount of sweetness and creaminess. We actually went back the next 2 nights for it - it was that good.
