Baler
We arrived in Baler early Saturday morning after around 6-hour drive from Makati. The laid-back atmosphere of Sabang beach - wind slightly chilled, surfers and tourists abound - was very refreshing that I forgot about the past few hours' uncomfortable and disrupted sleep on a van filled to its capacity. After taking in all the sights around the beach strip, which was already busy with surfers (and people trying but failing to surf), we decided to eat a buffet Filipino breakfast at Bay's Inn.
Since it was still early and our rooms were not yet available for early check-in, we decided to visit Museo de Baler which houses a few artifacts and paintings related to Baler's rich history and a significant section dedicated to the movie 'Baler' (one can wonder if the 'Baler' in 'Museo de Baler' refers to the film).
After about an hour, we went back to the beach strip and checked-in at Bayler View hotel which has all the basic amenities once can expect from a budget hotel.
After a few hours of rest, we went to climb the 250+ stairs at Ermita Hill - known to be the hill that was climbed to safety by locals during a deadly tsunami centuries ago. The Tromba Marina sculpture, which features 8 survivors climbing the hill, at the base of the hill serves as a reminder of the incident.

We spent the next 2 hours at Digisit falls and at Lukso-lukso Islets found across the falls.
We then went back to Sabang beach and found it to be eerily quiet and dark - we wondered where all the people were. We ate dinner at Baler Surfer Grill - one of the very few restaurants we found along the beach strip. The place looked really cool - Volkswagen griller and surf boards as interior - and the food - baby back ribs - tasted great.
